Food Security

According to statistics by USDA 10.2% of Americans in 2021 were food insecure. Because of this, our organization focuses on partnerships with local organizations to provide food and assistance to neighbors in need.

Food for Neighbors in Need

Marta's Table

One of our main programs is the Sandwiches for Neighbors in Need. We make more than 3,000 sandwiches each year. We partner with Martha's Table located in downtown Washington D.C.  Martha’s Table distributes over 300 sandwiches each night through McKenna’s Wagon. McKenna’s Wagon is a daily mobile food truck that rolls out every night to provide nutritious meals and sandwiches.

Food and Friends

Food and Friends provide fresh meals and groceries at no cost to people with AIDS and other life-challenging illnesses living in the metro area. Food & Friends prepares about 1,500 meals a day and offers clients more than 13 special meal plans to meet their dietary needs! Volunteers made soups and salads as well as a wide range of homemade products and packed foods for distribution.

(ALIVE!)

ALIVE! (Alexandria Involved Ecumenically) is the largest private safety net for the needy in the city of Alexandria, addressing short-term to long-term needs for those less fortunate in the community. Our volunteers work with the organization to distribute free food to the residents of Alexandria.
